First Bite

Eli hit his sixth month growth spurt hard (as usual), which meant I couldn't wait to get him started on solids.  Here's how it went.

Willing subject waiting for his first taste of solid food...

The spoon went in, and all the food came out.  Then he started crying.

"Why are you doing this to me, dad?!"

We really had to work on this guy to take his solids.  He seemed to hate solid food for the first several weeks... until we figured out the secret (not until Christmas time)!  We had to eat in front of him and tease him with our food.  I would actually pretend to feed him a chip or something while I snuck the baby food in with the other hand.  And we still have to do this sometimes.  Jake thinks this is awful.  I say it is survival.  Eli has always been a horrible sleeper.  If he doesn't finish his allotment of baby-food, all I can think about is, "Oh no, he is going to want to wake up and eat all night!!"
