Absolute Top Picks
- Curious George Complete Adventures : Curious George, enough said!
- The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales : These Usborne stories are just so sweet. Eli and Josiah both adore them. The narrator has a clever British accent and the sound effects are an added bonus.
- Skippy Jon Jones Series (for preschool on up) : hilarious stories about a Siamese Cat who thinks he is a Chihuahua.
- Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel : Terrific music by the London Philharmonic accompanies this story and makes the classic even more lovable!
- Pop Pop's Teeny Tunes : (Not an audio book, but filled with songs and commentary PERFECT for early preschoolers). A bit old-school, but Josiah still LOVES these. It teaches very appropriate lessons for toddlers and preschoolers. Somehow these cds just speak to my kids! I like the 3rd cd the best.
- AA Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh (by Hodder Children's Audio) :Jake and I might enjoy these more than Josiah! The retelling is rather awesome.
- Thomas and Friends Audio books--You know my kids like their Thomas stuff. Although, we can only find them used, any Thomas lover will be enthralled by these.
- The Complete Tales of Peter Rabbit and Friends : I am a huge Beatrix Potter fan, so naturally I love that we have an audio book version. The only caveat is that it's in MP3 format, which limits where we use it!
- The Arnold Lobel Audio Collection : Arnold Lobel is the author of Frog and Toad. Though the Frog and Toad stories are not on this cd, the rest of Lobel's stories share the same humor.
- The Original Adventures of Hank the Cowdog
- Ungle Wiggly's Storybook read by Jim Weiss (known as an excellent story-teller)
- James Herriot's Treasury for Children
