First, we ate a picnic lunch at Boston Common and headed to the Frog Pond. The Frog Pond is a huge wading pool with a fountain in the middle.
We tried to get a shot of all the kids looking--ha, not a chance!
These two were playing ring-around-the-rosie.
A few feet beyond the Frog Pond was a cute little carousel. The kids loved it!
Then we walked out of Boston Common and across the street to the Public Garden. I was most excited about this because we are fans of Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey, which is the setting for the book.
This was the cutest thing to watch primarily because of the unspoken rule that all of the children instinctively knew to follow: hop on the last duck and make your way up, one duck at a time, to the prized seat--the back of Mrs. Mallard!
Josiah was thrilled to see all of the ducks in the lagoon. He kept asking, "Is that Mr. and Mrs. Mallard?"
He ran off all excited, and I was just praying he wouldn't fall in. He
I didn't do justice of photographing the scenery, but the Victorian garden was really beautiful.
Our final adventure was a swan boat ride on the lagoon. I didn't photograph our ride, but here is one of the boats below. The operator sat in the back and propelled the boat's bicycle-like pedals slowly along.
It really was a perfect trip for toddlers/preschoolers in Boston--not too long and not too much walking.
