Dirty and Proud

As unstable as our summer was, it was very nice to spend a few weeks at the cottage.  There were a few pluses.  For Jake and I, we enjoyed the perks of grilling out as much as we wanted (we did not have a grill at our old apartment!).  For the boys, beyond riding all over the neighborhood, they could be dirty and it was okay (within reason) to bring that filth inside because the cottage is, well, kind of like a cabin.  Perfect fit for the boys in the summer.

This first set shows the boys in the midst of pretend play.  Eli had his baby, Oliver (the rabbit) and  Josiah was a firefighter.  The pencil and sticks were hoses because, well, don't all firefighters aim their hoses like guns?

Camera tricks: "Do you see the picture inside my lens?"

Josiah was showing off his recently lost tooth.

Eli was trying to convince us that he had a loose tooth too.

This set was taken on another day.
Soap, water, hose, toothbrush, and treasure!  They played like this for a good hour.

Treasure consisted of: shells, rocks, acorns, molted crab shells, etc.  Of course, I was appalled he was using the toothbrush.

Above: crab shell, or maybe it was a dead crab?
