Here's to another year of GWH Boys Camp. This was Jake's last year as assistant director. Following the close of the week, he humbly accepted his new position as director. We pray the Lord continues to point boys to Christ under Jake's leadership.
Josiah enjoyed "studying" with the boys now that he has some beginning reading skills. The gospel messages were powerful, especially to a five-year-old. Josiah can rehearse the gospel message all day, but says he just doesn't know what it means to believe. After a spell of bad attitudes one evening at camp, he and I had a big talk. We talked about his sinful attitude and that it was worthy of the Lake of Fire, and how Jesus came to die on the cross to save him from every sin, even the very sin he was struggling with right then. My deep thinker made one of his comments. (Keep in mind, he had done a lot of swimming at camp.) "Mom, it's like I'm in a long, long pool, and I'm swimming backwards away from God." I was a little blown away at his deep metaphor. I replied, "That's a very wise thing to say, and do you know what else? Jesus has already done all the work to save you from your sin; all you have to do is reach out, and He'll rescue you. That's what it means to believe." It was encouraging to see the Lord working on his heart at camp.
This picture and the previous one were taken by nurse and photographer Chris Schaefer. I love the one she captured of Andrew, ice cream stains and all. He had just finished Chatterbox time.
The boys stayed up extra late one night to see a fire truck spraying its hose.
Check out the similarities in expression between Jake and Josiah above and below.
This was the last year for Andrew to be carted around all day in a stroller!
It's always interesting taking babies (especially crawling ones) to camp!
He was exploring the hostas and dirt outside our room.
Eventually he started scooting into the gravel.
We ended camp with Josiah and Eli getting sick!
Not having a home to go to in Massachusetts, what else would one do? Make and impromptu visit with friends in Maryland of course! We also ended up attending a wedding that we originally said we wouldn't be able to attend!
Here's our slightly wedding ready family. Some of the outfits were borrowed!
Our kids had a big time together. Andrew and Baby A are only one month apart. Too bad we didn't get a picture of the adults together!
