Pretend

Our boy has a bit of character.  Here are a few ways it comes out in his pretend play:

He has a stash of rocks outside that transform into plates of pancakes and sometimes even sausage.  I've eaten more pancakes than you'd even believe on my front stoop!  Josiah has even given me a generously portioned side of grass to compliment the fine breakfast cuisine.

Apparently, my son is obsessed with tacos.  I may or may not have had 3 weak moments when I was pregnant, whereby I took my son to pig-out with me at Taco Bell.  This must have made such an impression on Josiah that he has been "ordering" tacos ever since.  A few weeks ago, he drove up to the side of his house on his battery-powered four-wheeler and spoke to an imaginary person: "Taco please!"
I might add that he is also slightly confused about this whole taco thing.  Every time we go to Target he joyfully exclaims, "Ooooh!  We gonna get tacos fwum Target!"  Even his trains have starting ordering tacos.

He likes to role-play.  He's been known to imitate friends of ours like Steve Tomasia or Mr. Broadbent.  He's also become Little Bear (I got to be Emily).

I need to start teaching him money skills.  We played "credit or debit" for a full fifteen minutes today.  He gives me a "credit card"; I ask him "credit or debit"; he replies with either answer; and swipes the card.  Over. And. Over.

He plays church.  He teaches from the Bible.  And he loves to sing from a "hymnal."  We had a little hymn sing tonight, and I even got reprimanded for not having my hymnal open.  He ended our singing session with a heartfelt prayer.

The latest and cutest one of the bunch involves his "babies."  [Another post to come on this.]

And while I continue catching up on pictures from the summer, here are two random pictures from a summer walk in the park:
