A O K

Thanks for all of the prayers and kind words regarding Josiah's surgery.  We all had a long day in Boston, but everything went better than expected.  The Lord was wonderfully good to us, and we were able to leave the hospital early this afternoon instead of tomorrow morning, which meant no overnight stay in the hospital--yay!

Josiah waiting to get his "bump" removed.
Pacifier: check ....... Blanket:  check

Here are a few highlights from our day:
  • Jake got to combat Boston traffic at 6 am.  Hooray!  We were only 7 minutes late for our check-in time of 8 am, which isn't too bad when considering how many cars were on the road with us!
  • The doctor told us that Josiah's cyst was of a pyramid shape, about .75in at its base.  It didn't have any tracts connected below the skin, which could have been problematic.  His incision site was very shallow on the skin.
  • Josiah got a "Bomas" balloon.  He is enthused with Thomas the Tank Engine.  Naturally, this balloon made his day.
  • The doctors and nurses were so kind and professional.  They made a point to seek us out and inform us on every little detail.  I've been thoroughly impressed by Boston Children's Hospital during all three of my visits regarding this surgery.
  • Did I mention we got to go home right away?  Yes!  We were so happy we did not have to entertain our recovering toddler-patient in his hospital bed.   He had surgery by 10 am and we were home by 2 pm!
  • Josiah is doing well.  He's easily frustrated and more fussy than usual, but that's his cue for us that he's uncomfortable.  Again, we are grateful because he is in a lot less pain than expected!
