Pleasant Surprise

The doorbell rang today.  That can mean one of three things:  a) friends visiting; b) Jehovah's Witnesses making their usual rounds; or c) the UPS/Fed-Ex/Mailman dropping off a package.  To my delight, no one was there.  It was indeed C, the UPS man playing ding-dong-ditch with me (he always rings and runs!).  In his place, sat a little package encased in plastic because we have had very rainy weather today.  I figured it was my camera.  Nikon had notified us that they were finally replacing the camera (victory!).  So I opened the package with a sigh of relief that I was finally going to be able to take pictures of our family once again.  To my surprise, though, the camera box did not include another old, bottom-of-the-line, discontinued D-40.  They gave us an upgraded D3000!  After I was so bummed about this camera matter, God was gracious in providing me a better one!  :)  Here are a few pictures of Josiah waking from his nap--nothing special:

When I came into the room with my camera,
he was peeking out from underneath his blanket.
He proceeded to pull the blanket down.
He's a big boy, so he can do that stuff now.
(Using his hands is a big deal, people!!!!)

On another note, we had Berlanty over for dinner.  Berlanty is a sweet and stubborn (tis true) widow who goes to our church.  She has mental problems in her old age, which causes her great fears as she lives alone.  Every time I see her, she asks me at least three times, "How does Josiah sleep at night?"

She needs all the help she can get from others.  It is neat that the Lord let us find an apartment where He did because we live about 5 houses down the street from her, and we can more easily visit/give rides.  We used to go to her house every Wednesday for dinner, but have stopped since Josiah was born.  Berlanty was born in Egypt, and she will, "Bless you!" or tell you to, "Have some more [food]," in the sweetest Middle-Eastern accent ever.

If you think of it, will you pray for Berlanty?  She isn't at a state where she can care for herself well at all, and she needs to move in with her family.  Did I mention she is stubborn?  This has kept her from making the necessary move.

I was feeling over-zealous for dinner, so I made meatloaf, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry salad, and bought some bread.  Jenn, my walking buddy, got me hooked on her dee-lish meatloaf and sweet potatoes, so I conveniently borrowed her menu idea!
