PJs and Yummy Fabric

Here's a little from our day.

Josiah likes to spend a good portion of his morning in mom and dad's bed just-a-cooing, laughing, reading, and snoozing away.  He was looking pretty cute in his car PJs this morning.  How could I resist posting a few pictures of him?

Good morning!
He's getting SOOOOO long!
Big yawn!

Josiah and I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics this afternoon because the fat quarters were on sale for $1.  I am starting to gather fabric for my first quilt.  Hopefully, my obsession with pretty prints and colors will end up nicely arranged on a quilt instead of getting stuffed into another bin (like my last attempt!).

For now my plan is to make the Mixed Tape pattern by Elizabeth Hartman.  It looks simple enough for a beginner like me (*fingers crossed*).  Here are two pictures of all of the fabric:

What yummy fabric!

After looking at the pattern, I realize the 3 pieces I bought from a bolt were not long enough, so I'll be going back for more. I have 13 prints so far, and I need 18.  I want it to be a bright and happy quilt--I think these colors accomplish that!  Do you think the colors go together well? Should I introduce some solids, or just stick to more patterns?

To mom: A lady at Jo-Ann's told me about a new quilting store in Fairhaven.  We'll have to check it out when you come. :)
