Here are some accomplishments and favorites of Eli at one year:
His vocabulary is expanding. He says mom, dad, bye-bye, peekaboo, ball, kick, up, this, baby, and go-go. However, my favorite is his version of Josiah: yo-yiah or yiah. At 11.5 months, he and I went outside alone. When we turned the corner to go behind our house, Eli started looking around for his brother while saying, "Yo-yiah! Yo-yiah!"
He loves balls, and he really likes to kick them. (It really frustrates him that he can't kick them like his daddy and brother!) This is a really cute feat to watch. He usually begins by attempting a kick while standing, which usually ends in a fall. Once he is on the ground, he scoots around with one leg in front trying to kick the ball--often while saying "ki-ki-kick!"
He figured out how to walk at 12.5 months. In less than a week, he is almost running around our house!
You'll find him talking on a cell phone just about anywhere. He's been known to use a pen, vacuum cleaner hose, block, or any toy really. His pretend phone doesn't have to resemble a real phone's size or shape--he's not picky.
He is forever an oxymoron: snuggly and wiggly!
He is a fan of animals. When he hears birds, he screeches (his odd version of a bird call). When he hears dogs, he gives a raspy grunt (his weird version of a bark). His bear and lion sounds are also the same raspy grunt.
This has been a favorite toy for the past three months or so. At 9 and 10 months, he was typically seen crawling around with one of the pop-up people in his mouth. Now he likes to put the people in the toy and pop them out. I am always searching for the pieces. Right now we only have the blue one located!
He loves to sing. Any song will do, but he's especially into "Baby Beluga" and "Jesus Loves Me" right now.
And get this! He really likes books now...that is, if they are set to song. He only has a few books that he can stomach that are non-song books.
He likes to play peekaboo.
Did I mention that he's really sweet?
