Spitting Image

One cute thing about our recent visit to Indiana this holiday season was witnessing my 7 year-old nephew, John, go NUTS over his Uncle Philip.  Let it be said that John takes after Philip in many ways.  First of all, if you were to check out a picture of Philip when he was a boy... then switch the hair to blonde--you have John!  I had to laugh when I saw them carry on the exact same pensive, furrowed-brow, facial expression while watching football together.  Another point is that they are both country-boys, and ridiculously so.  To translate for you city folk, I'll define country-boy as being fully consumed with things pertaining to twang, cammo, guns, hunting, and the like.

One morning during our Christmas vacation, John showed up at my parent's house bright and early before most had even stirred.  The best thing was that he was dressed in cammo from head to toe--shirts, pants, boots (yes, oversized cammo boots from his dad), hat, AND a face mask.  (He looked much like the photo below, but add about 5 pieces of cammo.)

After questioning what he was up to, John proceeded to tell me--in GREAT detail--the day he had planned with Uncle Philip.  "Well, me 'n Uncle Phil-up are goin' ta Wal-Mart, so we can check out the B-B guns.  Will stay there til 'bout 10:00.  Then we're gonna come back and shoot guns and do targit practice til 12:00.  And THEN we're gonna go ta Gander Mountain til 'bout 2:00."

So cute.  :)

Here is a photo documenting just one of the "dream come true" days that John experienced.

R to L: John, Philip, and Joseph  (As you can see, I'll have to
tell a story or two about Joseph, a.k.a. Mr. Personality, at a later date.)
